Quickest Way to Lion's Arch as a Tyrian Newborn
Hello,
I purchased Factions initially and now I bought Prophecies. I created a Prophecies character now, but I'm bummed that I can only grab a couple of skills/spells over in Factions, so... I wanted to hop over to the Lion's Arch to get over to Kaineng Center to grab a few spells and go back to Tyria, but am wondering how far into the game that is (From a newborn Tyrian to Cantha). If there's a URL to this discussion, just point me to it. Thanks. |

The fastest way would be runs, getting a run from ascalon to piken, piken to yaks, yaks to beacons then beacons to LA.This method would cost a fair amount of money to new members(around 1.5-2.5k).But you said you have factions so you most likely can afford it.

Thanks for the info.
I've noticed that runs are really popular in Prophecies. I blew a bunch of gold trying to get to Mineral Springs (still not close) with my Factions char, because I wanted a glyph capture out there, but it looks like most of the runners are running the other way. With my Tyrian, I've just gotten from Piken Square to Grenlich Courthouse. I wonder if there are any mesmer or elementalist runners out there. I can scrape up gold if necessary, but I'll never pass up a deal like Infinity Lad's. I'll look for you when I logon tonight. Thanks. |

Right, I understand.
I'm just wondering if anyone has had success with some unusual build choices. For instance, I was trying my luck with Arcane Echo and Illusion of Haste for my Mesmer, which wasn't too bad. I will see how it goes when I become a little more familiar with the monsters there, seeing as I may want to use Shatter Hex (unfortunately, it has a high cost). Just wondering if anyone had a build that ran without being a Ranger or Warrior... Edit: What else can run? Elementalist with Burning Speed, but doesn't last too long. Mesmer, Illusion of haste, which has nice run length, but you need to mend or reapply quickly... |

Illusion of haste is the way to run with a mesmer.
You dont need to echo it. Just bump up your illusion attribute as high as it can go and recast haste before you are crippled. |

It's really easy to get skills in Prophecies, just do the quests. Get a run from Ascalon to Yak's, Yak's to Beacon's, Beacon's to LA-- it shouldn't cost much if you find the right people.

You can do if you are /W as well I do with my Monk so if there are Mes/W or /R they can do as well.I have no problem running with my Monk.

Find an online map so you can see where you're trying to go. From Camp Rankor (it's on the way to Drok's) get a full party of henchmen. You get a full party of 7 level henchmen...this is part of what makes it doable. Beacon's Perch only allows you 6 people in a party and the henchies aren't full level. Then just go North and then East to get to the War Camp. Portal is about halfway up Snake Dance and don't miss the left turn up a small rise you have to make to go far North enough. Also, be prepared for a fight as soon as you port through. Then go out the cave and make a right. Keep right until you get to the War Camp. Tough and a long slog, but it can be done with henchies. From the War Camp go East to the portal East to enter Spearhead Peak. Then have something kill you. The nearest resurrection shrine is right outside Granite Citadel. That's as close to Mineral Springs as you can get. When you leave the Granite Citadel, make sure you don't rush out. Hug the NW wall and move very slowly. Stone Summit guys pop up and rush to the Granite Citadel entrance. If you just hug the wall and move slowly, you can completely miss them. Note, there are even more there than initially pop up, so attack them with caution. I always just bypass them myself. FYI, when you get to Kaineng Center to buy skills, there's a drop down selection at the top right of the skill buying window. Use it and select campaign. Only buy the skills for Factions since you can learn a lot of the Prophecy (and I think Core) skills by doing quests in Tyria. That's like spells for free (both gold and skill points). The real trick though, is to get your Cantha character to Ember Light Camp. There's a guy there who sells ALL the non-elite Prophecy Skills. Only way to do it is to start doing the missions from Ice Caves outside of Droknar's Forge. Only about 4 of them and they aren't too hard if you can find a good group to go with. Good luck! |

Avarre Mnestris has made quite an accomplishment in the field of Droknar's Forge running with his own Me/W Forgerunner build. Then again, he's known for taking other professions tricks and jobs and surgically implanting them into his Mesmer... But if a Mesmer can make that run, you can bet that it can do other ones too. I've fiddled with E/R and E/W running builds in the past, and while they aren't as wonderful as some others (basically, Warrior or Ranger builds), they do work and if you don't have room or want for one of the typical running professions, you can use your Elementalist to do the job instead. |

i run people in my guild from ascalon out to beacon's perch with my ele sometimes. its a fairly easy run with windborne speed. if i can figure out a way to get past the wurms on the droks forge run, i should be able to do that too. probably will just have to take a skill that prevents knockdown and i should be golden. if i take warrior secondary, it shouldn't be a problem but i like a challenge and want to see if i can manage with my original secondary of mesmer.
